Circular Economy Commitment
ASEMAC is committed to driving the transition towards a circular economy through the following actions:
- Making progress in reducing use of non-renewable natural resources, by reusing in the production cycle the materials contained in the waste as secondary raw materials as long as people’s health and the protection of the environment are guaranteed.
- Driving analysis of the life cycle of the products and incorporating eco-design criteria, reducing the introduction of harmful substances into their manufacture, making it easier to repair the goods produces, prolonging their shelf life and making it possible to obtain value from it at the end of its shelf life.
- Promoting the effective application of the principle of hierarchy, promoting waste generation prevention, promoting its reuse, strengthening recycling and promoting its traceability.
- Promoting guidelines that increase innovation and the overall efficiency of production processes, by adopting measures such as the implementation of environment management systems.
- Promoting innovative forms of sustainable consumption, including sustainable products and services, as well as the use of digital infrastructure and services.
- Promoting a model of responsible consumption, based on transparency of the information about the properties of the goods and services, their duration and energy efficiency, by using measures such as eco-labelling.
- Facilitating and promoting the creation of appropriate channels for facilitating the exchange of information and ccordination with the authorities, the scientific and technological community and economic and social agents, so that synergies are created that favour the transition.
- Sharing the importance of moving from the linear economy towards a circular economy, promoting process transparency, raising awareness among citizens.
- Encouraging the use of shared, transparent and accessible indicators that make it possible to know the degree to which the circular economy has been implemented. Promoting the incorporation of social and environmental impact indicators derived from the operation of companies, to make it possible to make assessments beyond the economic benefits that may be generated in then, as a consequence of their commitment to the circular economy.
