The best breads for these celebrations

Whether it’s to say goodbye to the year in style or to start the next off on the right foot, bread is always on the table. And who can be surprised, because good bread, like good wine, makes a difference.

There’s one thing that’s always welcome in any celebration and it’s the last thing to leave the table: bread. In this Mediterranean society, bread is an ingredient in any lunch or dinner worthy of the name, since it can be used not only to accompany endless dishes, but also helps you enjoy them in style (to mop up, what a great verb).

This is even more true around Christmas. The fact is that bread is ideal (even necessary, some would say) to enjoy lunch and dinner, and even to liven up the after-dinner conversation. Look closely: there’s always someone who continues to graze on bread even after dessert has arrived. There’s no doubt about it, bread is one of the stars of these Christmas celebrations.

And, if one of your customers has already written their menu for these festivities, they’re sure to need a bread that’s good enough to accompany lunches and dinners. Whether it’s for dipping in the snail sauce or for soaking a good piece of bread in lamb sauce, bread is the food you can’t fail to recommend at your bakery, cafeteria or supermarket.

What kind of breads can you offer at your business? Absolutely loads. Glass bread, for example, is light, it has a large glass-like alveole and surprises with its crispy crust and very airy crumb, which makes it very easy to combine. In terms of sizes and formats, there are several. Take note: the Mediterranean Glass Express, the Maxi baguette Mediterranean Glass Express (a class for premium baguettes, if everything is for nibbles), the Rustic Glass Burger, the Mediterranean Glass Express roll, or the Mediterranean Glass Express mini baguette, among others.

Loaves are often very useful for preparing crunchy toasts, which can also be part of your Christmas lunch or dinner. And, of course, by themselves they can also be used, in a basket, to accompany the dishes being served. There are more traditional loaves, such as the water bread loaf or the classic loaf, and other, more peculiar ones, such as the rye loaf, the cereal loaf, the Panorigen classic loaf and the rustic loaf.

You can also have loaves where sourdough is the hero. The sourdough loaf that most stands out in this category are the country loaf made with pH 4.8 sourdough, and the buckwheat loaf made with pH 4.8 sourdough.

The fact that the breads you offer are baked in a stone oven certainly adds value. When bread is baked in traditional stone-floor ovens, the high and constant temperature that characterises this type of baking gives the bread a very crunchy rustic crust and an alveolate crumb. Buying frozen bread, thanks to the possibilities of frozen doughs, will ensure your business will not be without these delicious bread, now more than ever, they’re going to be hugely in-demand.

But the fact that a bread is frozen and pre-baked doesn’t mean, as you have seen, that it lacks variety or different flavours and formats according to tastes. Among the breads that have been baked carefully in stone-floor ovens, water bread and family orchard bread, for example, stand out. Other, very particular, ones include the green olive loaf, the loaf with raisins, oats and honey, and water bread with seeds.

Just as a good wine is recommended at Christmas, good bread makes all the difference. It’s one of the most precious elements of the celebration and one of that sets the pace of Christmas lunches and dinner. For all these reasons, and especially in this season, don’t hesitate to supply your business with the great jewel for these celebrations.
